Seeing it in the Mirror
|
Chris Gray - Punch Gym. Dover, DE Madison first arrived at Punch just after having 2 children and as a result gained an extra 60 pounds with her pregnancies. Madison had a tremendous desire to be fit again however she lacked the knowledge, confidence, and motivation to take this journey on her own.
After meeting Madison and assessing her level of fitness I found that her functional abilities, strength, and conditioning were not bad. In fact they were pretty good, it was the lack of direction, accountability, and support that was missing for Madison. At that point I felt that the first step for her to get the support and gain the confidence she needed to succeed was our five week kettlebell boot camp for women.
In boot camp Madison worked five days per week with other women who had similar goals over a period of five straight weeks. Her daily training sessions were 30 minutes long focused on our AOS Corrective Strategies, Vintage Progressions, and Ropes Gone Wild in weeks 1-3. In week 4 we turned up the intensity training with Tabata training, followed by Resolution circuit training in week 5.
By the end of the 5 weeks Madison had already lost 16 pounds but the real change was in her self-confidence. Madison had obvious “see in the mirror” results and everyone around her was talking. The fire was now ignited and Madison was extremely driven to keep forward progress going, to the point she was practically begging us to push her harder. It was at this moment unbeknownst to her but Madison Ray became a role model.
Now all of a sudden there is a buzz around Punch and everyone’s making references to me about Madison and her progress. Other clients gained motivation by seeing her develop so quickly giving them new hope and a belief that they too can accomplish their goals.
Following the five week boot camp Madison moved to our fundamentals level training where she thrived and in a very short time was out performing clients who have been training with us a lot longer. In just five short months Madison has lost 50 pounds and dropped 4 dress sizes.
Moving forward our focus is on long term success. We are working closely with her on proper nutrition for peak performance and new challenges to keep her motivated. Madison is a shining example of what can be done in a relatively short time when committed to making the lifestyle changes necessary for success.
We are very proud of Madison and feel honored to have been on this journey with her.

In Her Own Words - Madison Ray
The trainers and other members are always there to support and motivate me. Everyone cares and only wants the best and it’s a great support system. Since starting Punch Gym 6 months ago, I’ve lost 50lbs and dropped 4 dress sizes. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been, and I also have noticeable muscle tone. Now I have more confidence in myself and a sense of accomplishment of the goals I have achieved. I am using everything I’ve learned at Punch Gym and setting a good example for my children and others around me. During this journey there have been times when I have wanted to slack off but didn’t because of the support of the staff. My weakness seem to be with nutrition.
Anytime I have a question, I’m able to ask the nutritionist here at Punch Gym and she gives me tips and advice. The people I’ve met at Punch Gym have played a big role in my success. They push you to your max to achieve the best results in the shortest time. They are there for you whenever you need help. And most of all they believe in your success, even when you don’t believe in yourself. Losing weight is a process, but you are much more likely to succeed and have optimal results with a commitment to a program like the ones offered at Punch Gym

| Pasta with Roasted Cauliflower, Arugula & Prosciutto Ingredients
Kosher salt
One-half medium head cauliflower, cored and cut into 3/4-inch florets (3-1/2 cups)
1 pint grape tomatoes
3 Tbs. extra-virgin olive oil
Freshly ground black pepper
9 large fresh sage leaves
4 large cloves garlic, peeled
6 thin slices prosciutto (about 4 oz.)
12 oz. dried orecchiette
5 oz. baby arugula (5 lightly packed cups)
3/4 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
Directions
Position a rack in the lower third of the oven and heat the oven to 425°F. Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil.
Toss the cauliflower, tomatoes, oil, 3/4 tsp. salt, and 1/2 tsp. pepper on a rimmed baking sheet; spread in a single layer. Roast, stirring once or twice, until the cauliflower begins to turn golden and tender, about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, pulse the sage and garlic in a food processor until minced. Add the prosciutto and pulse until coarsely chopped. Once the cauliflower is golden, toss the herb mixture into the vegetables and continue to roast until fragrant and the cauliflower is golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes.
Boil the orecchiette until al dente, 9 to 10 minutes. Reserve 1 cup pasta-cooking water. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot. Stir in the roasted cauliflower mixture, arugula, cheese, and enough pasta water to moisten. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
