Play Out Loud
We’ve got a special road to recovery this week, one that deals with a subject we’ve been passionate about and brought to you in some form or fashion for quite some time. We first touched on this subject more than 2 years ago when we began discussing the declining fitness and activity levels in America’s youth. What began as Stop the Obesity, a fitness curriculum designed to be implanted into any school’s physical education class has evolved into Play Out Loud, an adapted version of Stop the Obesity, designed

to reach beyond the school system and into community centers, summer camps and after school programs. Most recently, Play Out Loud was introduced at a summer camp in southern New Hampshire. There, the program’s true results were felt with a small group of students from The Met School in Providence, Rhode Island. Play Out Loud’s training curriculum was focused in such a way that every child’s leadership qualities are brought to the surface. The strong were humbled, the weak became empowered and the shy became courageous. It is with some of these students that this series of Road to Recovery will start. We will follow the program’s success and impact as it is implemented throughout their school year. For now, enjoy the introductory video from the series.
