Minute of Strength #170: G’s Bikini Workout

We’ve got part 2 of our 4 part series dissecting the workout Anthony and Gunnar Peterson created for the Under Armour/E-News media shoot.

Here we’ve got Anthony explaining the importance of the inclusion of Ropes Gone Wild into the workout, followed by a few routines that were cut from the actual broadcast.

Minute of Strength #169: G’s Bikini Workout

Recently Anthony spent a few days out in L.A. showing friend Gunnar Peterson a few of the new routines he developed with some of our latest equipment during Gunnar’s Under Armour/ E-News media shoot.

They created a workout for Giuliana Rancic entitled “G’s Bikini Workout”.

Though the location prevented many of the routines Anthony would have liked to have seen demonstrated, they were still able to get a series workout broadcast.

With that in mind, over the next 4 weeks we’ll be bringing you the exercises shown, and those that weren’t, to show you exactly what you can do no matter the space you have available

Minute of Strength #168: Getting Weightless Part III

In this final installment of Getting Weightless, Anthony progresses you to the “Open Palm Snatch”, a routine that we use to not only teach weightlessness but one we use to teach confidence.  For our athletes in particular this routine has become one of the more beneficial ones, showing them how much energy is required to get the job done while giving them confidence in doing what seems to be an advanced routine – two traits that have already transferred to the playing field.

Professions aside, this exercise is probably one of the best training routines we use in our gym.  Like we said above it teaches our clients, by forcing them to use efficiency in movement, to use just the right amount of energy needed to get the bell to the top position.

Take a look at the video below and then give it a shot.  Once mastered you’ll have all the confidence you’ll need to take on any situation.

Minute of Strength #167: Getting Weightless Part II

We’re picking up where we left off last week with the next progression in gaining efficiency by getting weightless.

Last week you learned how to perform the double release swing, this week, Anthony is showing you the single release swing and how it helps to not only create the efficiency you’re looking for but also show slight imbalances in form that you may have.

Improving efficiency by getting weightless.

This 3 part series will examine just one of the ways it’s possible to gain efficiency through movement by creating “weightlessness”.

Part 1 takes you back to basics to show you what must happen during a kettlebell swing in order to have a proper transition between the two main positions.

Check out the video below where Anthony introduces the double release swing as a teaching tool for this first step towards getting weightless.

Minute of Strength #165: Art of Strength

Minute of Strength #165: Art of Strength

A treadmill is one of the last pieces of equipment you’d find in any one of our Punch Gyms, that’s why when we first rolled the Woodway Curve into Rumford as one of selected pieces of equipment most weren’t exactly sure what we were going to do with it.   As one piece of the bigger picture, the Woodway curve allows us to train, rehab and correct our clients and members in ways that more naturally prepare them for what they face day to day, whether it be as an athlete preparing for their sport or a client on their road to recovery.

The natural curve of the Woodway, and its motor-less tread, allows us to coach individuals in a controlled, yet real world, setting.  Its lack of motor and curve means the user is not simply bounding along on top while a tread moves below their feet, rather the user is forced to use their body in the way it would have to had they actually been running or walking in a real environment.

Check out the video below as Jerod Mayo of the New England Patriots talks about why his work on our Woodway Curve is so beneficial to what he does.

Minute of Strength #164: Creating a Culture

This week we welcomed a few of our Punch Gyms/Art of Strength Training Centers to town to run through our Art of Strength Business and Training Camp.

Two of the trainers, Justin Greene and Andrew Bustos from our Art of Strength Training Center in Abilene, Texas, offered to contribute this week’s minute of strength.

Justin and Andrew wanted to touch on a subject they feel is very important when it comes to training – how, when you’re trying to create a better physical culture and consistency in training is the key, are you still able to keep the workouts fun and fresh.

Check out the video below, and make sure you stick around some of the outtakes at the end.

Minute of Strength #163: Corrective Strategies

Another amazing story from Punch Gym.

Today we take a look at one of Colin’s clients who has made great gains in health after only a few sessions of training with corrective strategies.  His client, Peter, having gone through bypass surgery and a recent diagnosis of diabetes came to Punch for a training regimen and lifestyle change to drop weight and gain strength and a better range of motion in a previously injured shoulder.

Take a look.
