Can You Feel It?

Women.  We are the most intuitive creatures on the planet, aren’t we? Have you ever experienced a gut feeling of just “knowing” that something was going to happen, and it DID? How about this - you start thinking of a friend from your past, and then out of the blue, you get a phone call from them or run into that exact person that you haven’t seen in years? Have you ever gotten an unsettling or weird feeling about someone? You know the feeling I’m talking about. You can’t put your finger on why that person gives you the creeps, it’s just a gut feeling.

THAT is intuition.  I believe it is primitive, I believe it’s God given, and I believe women have an innate ability to tap into it.

Ladies, what if you could take that same intuitive, instinctual ability and apply it to your kettlebell training? You can, and you need to! The reason I suggest this is because a big part of mastering your kettlebell technique is about FEELING IT on an intuitive, primitive level. Those of you who have been using the kettlebell as a main training tool for awhile know EXACTLY what I’m talking about, right? The feeling of landing your snatch perfectly, of feeling that weightless sweet spot and intuitively knowing when to punch…feeling the bell come to rest on the wrist, not bouncing off of it. Or performing a set of heavy kettlebell cleans with flawless technique and feeling that bell just roll easily into the rack. AND Feeling your hamstrings work! Did you know that you should feel your hamstrings and butt when you’re swinging as well? If you have no idea what I’m talking about, I encourage you to focus on what you’re feeling, and you may need a heavier bell.

Ladies, next time you have a kettlebell in your hand, focus on FEELING IT. Tap into what you’re feeling and where you’re feeling it. Your kettlebell training should flow. It should have a rhythm and your mind should feel completely engaged.

Ladies, next time you have a kettlebell in your hand, focus on FEELING IT. Tap into what you’re feeling and where you’re feeling it. Your kettlebell training should flow. It should have a rhythm and your mind should feel completely engaged. The rhythm of your training session should almost feel soothing- even when the intensity is extremely high.  When you are performing kettlebell movements with flawless form, it will feel good and right on a very primitive level. If you still need help with your technique, watch the Minute of Strength!  Anthony has given us (absolutely free!) impeccable instruction on every kettlebell movement pattern. Just go the Minute of Strength and watch if you aren’t sure how to perform an exercise. I urge you though, after watching, ask yourself, Can I feel it? Where do I feel it? Does it feel natural? Does it feel right? Does it flow? Ladies, use your intuitive abilities, use your gut, and if it feels right and good, your form is probably right on.

FIT TIP

give it a swing…

Having trouble finding that sweet spot in your swing?  Can’t quite get your posterior chain activated enough to get the full benefit from your swing routine?  Try this drill Lori Harris uses with her clients with the same problem.  According to Lori it’s nearly fool proof and a “hamstring cooker”.

Perform this round for 2 minutes:

10 Swings (whatever size KB they like)

10 swings heavy

10 swings HEAVY heavy.

STACI PICK

She’s been waiting 2 years for Anthropologie to bring this back!  Having no luck finding something similar elsewhere it was fate when they put it back on their site last week.  “You know when you just really want something and fall in love with it?”
