A few months ago Anthony started working with Walter Norton, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Boston Celtics. Walter, a former coach and pro-football quarterback in Europe, has always been progressive in his approach to fitness and training. It was because of this that he first approached Anthony in the hopes of finding out how beneficial kettlebell training can be for his athletes and himself.
It wasn’t long after his first session that Walter became a firm believer in the power of kettlebell training and the theory and practices of Art of Strength. If you were to ask him how he felt after his first session he’d give you the obligatory answer of “tired” or “smoked” but he’d also tell you how amazed and almost embarrassed he was that he was just now stumbling onto this method of training. Here he is, working the past 5 years for the Boston Celtics, a 50 minute drive from Providence, Rhode Island and perhaps one of the best kettlebell instructors and personal trainers this country has to offer and it’s just now that he’s coming into Punch Kettlebell Gym.
One of the things that first struck Walter was the true versatility and dynamic that kettlebells offer him as a trainer, whether it is for rehab, strength, or endurance -everything is attainable with virtually one kettlebell. In addition to the versatility, there was also the “Anthony” aspect of kettlebell training. Anthony’s main objective is to make sure that kettlebell training stays true to its roots, taking careful steps to ensure that at no time do his workouts ever become watered down. There exists a kettlebell theory or concept, a kettlebell concept if you will, that states kettlebell workouts need to be watered down to make them more palatable for the general public. To this, Anthony and other true kettlebell trainers like him have always stood in defiance. Anthony has made sure that his workouts not only stay tough, but he makes sure his classes are organized such that they get tougher. “The workouts get tougher and we follow, the workouts get easier and we get weaker.”
It was this “Anthony” aspect that amazed Walter the most. The notion that a single workout could be so physically and mentally tough, yet left him craving more. Walter knew it was exactly what he and his players needed. Like I’ve said before, how can you beat your opponent if you are training in the exact same way?...you must train harder, better, more efficiently in order to beat them. Now, I’m not saying we’re the reason the Boston Celtics are in first place…I’m just saying, well…you know…
Watch below as Walter Norton speaks about the importance of kettlebell training for him and his athletes and stay tuned as he runs through a few of the drills that Anthony has been putting him through.
Before coming to the Celtics, Walter trained, prepared and rehabbed athletes for the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, WNBA, MLS, and WUSA. He’s also coached numerous Olympic medalists and serves as a consultant for the Harvard Basketball program (NCAA). Most recently he founded the Institute of Performance and Fitness, a performance training company dedicated to changing and enhancing the lifestyles and fitness habits of motivated individuals. The company works with athletes, teams, corporate professionals, and individual clients to create and enact an optimal plan for success based on the individuality of those they work with.

Last week I touched on our latest endeavor, Punch Nutrition by Bonnie, and this week I’d like to take some time to discuss it in a bit more detail.
For the last few years Bonnie Lefrak, owner and head trainer at Punch Gym Worcester, has remained one of our many hidden gems. She’s become a wealth of information on dieting and competition training that has for the most part only been accessible to our gym patrons and staff. It was with all their success that we felt compelled to offer her services to the rest of the Art of Strength family.
What exactly is Punch Nutrition by Bonnie?
Punch Nutrition by Bonnie is a totally customized diet developed specifically for you to help you reach your goals. Say you want to lose 50 pounds and cut your body fat from 25% to 10%. Well, Punch Nutrition by Bonnie will get you there.
The diet is a multi-tiered 12 week program, which means the diet plan changes throughout the duration. Along with your eating plan, you’ll get complete support from Bonnie for the entirety of the program, with emails and phone conversations. There will never be a time when you ever feel like you’re on your own. Bonnie’s support and fidelity to her clients is legendary.
So who is Bonnie?
Bonnie Lefrak is the owner and head trainer of Punch Kettlebell Gym Worcester, Massachusetts. Bonnie, a long time pro-body builder (natural) and fitness junkie has helped countless pro-body builders, athletes, desk jockeys, soccer moms and stay at home dads all reach their goals, whether it is for sport or just to look and feel better. She is a former Director of the National Personal Trainers Institute and long time friend and client of Anthony Diluglio. She brings to Punch all the compassion, dedication and love for fitness that you would expect from an Art of Strength team member. It is this same passion that she commits to your success with the Punch Nutrition program.
How much does all this cost?
You get:
• 12 week totally customized eating program
• One-on-one support via phone and/or email
• Weekly check-in days where your progress will be evaluated and necessary changes made
• Training tips to help you along the way
• Sample recipes to assist you in preparing and cooking your food
All for an investment of just $299.00
Is there really any better investment than an investment in yourself? Listen, I’m a huge believer in work hard play hard but that only works if you train just a bit harder than you play. In my opinion the adage should be changed to work harder play hard. So if you’re like me and you train hard but play harder and you find yourself adding the calories back in just as fast you took them off, then perhaps Punch Nutrition by Bonnie is right for you. With 3 full weeks on the PN I’ve lost almost 17 pounds and feel fantastic, my workouts are better (I actually did a full 45 minute workout at Punch with 2 24 kilo kettlebells), even my tighter fitting clothes are starting to fit me – some of them are actually loose! The way I figure, 12 weeks will go by whether I’m dieting or not…so I might as well diet and be better for it. And like Bonnie said – “it’s just food”.
To show the effectiveness of Punch Nutrition by Bonnie you’ll be able to follow me along my journey as I reach to fulfill a goal of losing 55 pounds. Watch for the Punch Nutrition by Bonnie section coming to the website shortly. It’ll have tips, tricks and as the popularity grows, success stories. It’ll also have my daily blog discussing the daily trials and tribulations of losing all my weight along with (of course) weekly weigh-ins.

Some information regarding the new AOS Database…
Think of the database as your own personal web site within the Art of Strength site. It’s yours, all yours, to do whatever you like with. Add pictures, add video, add all your contact info, your personal feelings on fitness, your life mantra – whatever you feel is necessary to become as successful as you possibly can. Here's what some of our customers are saying:
"As a deployed soldier in Iraq, I have run the gamut of exercise programs. This may very well be the best! The workouts are brief, which is important when time is limited. They are intense. The exercises are adequately explained in the video portion. Yet another hit from Mr. DiLuglio."
Bobby Matthews (Camp Slayer , Iraq)
"I just finished my first work out with the new AOS Smokin Ladders and I have to say I'm "Smoked". Gee Whiz, it did not seem to be that hard at first glance, but I had to drop the weight to get through it (or should I say 1/2 of it). Another top notch work out and a great training concept. I can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve to add to this in the future."
P. Gilliland (Columbus, United States)
"Anthony, You always deliver, I am always asking myself what should I try today, what are they doing at Punch, well this product helps answer my questions all I can say is keep them coming I love this stuff!"
Gary Gant (Victorville, California, United States)
