  • Video of the week: 1 leg clean & press... or stupid human trick?

If you aren't already familier with the clean & press (often shortened to simply C&P), give it a try! This is one of the best full body kettlebell drills. It's half ballistic (with the clean), half grind (with the military press), and just happens to look pretty impressive to bystanders! You can do it with a single or double kettleblells. This week, Anthony takes the drill up a notch by standing on 1 leg!

Forget the winter, turn a new leaf this spring
The sun is finally shining here on the East Coast. The streets have exploded with runners and cyclists. You’ve been cooped up in the gym or house all winter. It’s time to put your training (practice) to the test. I always tell my clients to treat their training as practice for something else. The payoff is getting more enjoyment out of running, cycling, or chasing after your three kids! Your training should keep you “life ready.” That means ready for anything that comes your way.

Get outside and enjoy yourself! Put the strength, endurance, and conditioning you earned all winter to use. It’s time to reap the benefits. If you slacked off through the winter, still get outside and try something new to jumpstart your outlook.

Biking is sure to wake up the kid in you. If you haven’t biked in a while and are unsure of the road, hop on a bike path. It’s safe and fun. Most bike paths are scenic routes, so you get to enjoy more than just burning quads. Do a Google search on biking in your local area for clubs and locations.

Hiking is another awesome outdoor fitness adventure. Grab your trail shoes, lots of water, and start climbing. Most areas have a website or hiking club devoted to area hotspots. You Kentuckians might try typing something like “Louisville hiking” into Google, for instance, and see what pops up.

Here is a really cool tip: Many cities offer MP3 walking tours. What a great way to enjoy the city you live in or near (but know nothing about)! Checkout the link below and start walking:

And hey… you can always take your training outdoors with our AOS: Providence MP3!

    Video of the week: rewind

Hey! What happened to that video from Minute of Strength #31 with the little girls demonstrating how all kids squat with naturally good form?!?  Yep, we got hundreds of emails asking where it went. We stand by the idea that adults tend to lose the ability to squat properly because of tightening hip flexors. If you ever want to see a squat demonstrated perfectly, ask a 5 year old to pick up a rock!

A few of you expressed a concern about showing video clips of young kids on the internet. We listened and felt it was a good idea to replace that video.
So, hop on over to MOS #31 now to see the new video!
