Video of the week: progressing to the snatch - part 2

In part 2 of this 4 part series, Anthony discusses the importance of proper starting placement of the kettlebell to activate the proper muscles and ensure good form. This is particularly important when progressing to larger kettlebells.

I'm a 23 years old female Emergency Medical Technician with a small ambulance company. I'm also a volunteer firefighter and training for the Deputy's LEA Law Enforcement Agility) exam. My Father’s death in 2003 hit me hard, and I put on 65lb while dealing with it. All that extra weight made training for the LEA exams very difficult. At 5'4", my highest weight was 215 pounds with a 45" waist.

My partner at work introduced me to kettlebells in late 2005. In conjunction with the Warrior Diet and honest work with the bells, I have dropped to 174 lb with a 36" waist as of February, 2006- and it's still coming off! So, I’ve dropped 41 lb and 6” off my waist. My dress size went from 18/20 to 14/16 and I’ve had to buy a new set of uniforms for work!

I bought the KB’s because I needed a better way to train for the LEA exams. I need the endurance and strength that they offer, but they're also great for toning those trouble areas that women have to deal with. I highly recommend them to any woman! They range from 9-18 lb… if you can pick up a toddler repeatedly, you can swing a KB. If you're a woman in any Emergency Service, they WILL help you greatly with your lifting and coordination.

Anthony's Art of Strength: Providence DVD will help you kick your training and exercise into high gear and work muscles you didn't even know you had. I use my 13 pounder for the DVD and train with Anthony's regimen every other day. It's so easy and so much fun! It combines muscle conditioning with endurance and gives an empowering feeling like "Yeah! I'm a girl and look what I do!"

Every woman can benefit from kettlebells and Anthony's DVD.

Bonus video: barbell sidepress

In this clip, Anthony demonstrates an exercise guarenteed to shock everyone at your local gym. Try this with a light bodybar and gradually add weight. Using proper sidepress form, ANYONE can pull it off.
